Can you recommend a children's book that you recently enjoyed? Yes sure! I very much enjoyed the children's book THERE ARE NO CATS IN THIS BOOK written and illustrated by Viviane Schwartz. Genius! I absolutely love the book DOGS DON"T DO BALLET written by Anna Kempt and illustrated by Sara Ogilvie. Stunning illustrations and a funny & heartwarming story! I'm also completely in love with Dubravka Kolanovic books - I love all her books. Her art and sensitivity touch my heart and she's a personal friend of mine; she's a great person and a very talented artist. I love the Charlie and Lola book series by Lauren Child! A must- have if you like contemporary illustrations and great ideas! And of course I will highly recommend MY FANTASY PET SHOP CAROUSEL illustrated by Angela Muss (yes that's me!) published by Tango Books. Tango Books does outstanding work. Their carousel books are marvellous and magical - a dream come true! That's just to name a few - I have so many other favourite children's books. You should see how excited I am when I'm in a children's bookstore! That's my world! And if you have any children's books to recommend please get in touch. I'd be really happy to hear from you. I'm always looking for new children's books to collect! I'm passionate about them! Do you have a piece of advice for beginning authors or illustrators? Here we go... :) I would recommend to all new authors or illustrators to first of all have enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is essential! I will even say that enthusiasm comes first over talent! Enough enthusiasm will always bring out some kind of talent! So please if you want to be creative be enthusiastic - enjoy what you do then you'll make others enjoy it too. But that's of course just a personal opinion. Draw, draw and draw. Don't stop drawing or writing or both! Never stop doing what makes you happy even if you don't receive positive feedback, please don't worry just keep on - you never know when someone will fall in love with what you do! Be patient, be optimistic, create new things, listen to others, listen to yourself and never stop dreaming! One day you'll wake up and your dream will come true! | Adorable Animals!![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Angela's Creative ProcessI use my spontaneous imagination a lot to create my illustrations. Ideas can come at anytime, anywhere. When I have a good idea to illustrate, if I'm not at my desk, I'll immediately write it on my mobile phone. Then later on in my studio, I'll first draw a sketch on paper or directly onto Photoshop, then I can see whether or not the idea would be successful. Once the sketch is done, I take some of the hundreds of textures that I have on my databases and I start to mix them in a very spontaneous, intuitive and creative way. For the process I usually use two different brushes and mix them on my illustrations using bright colours. That's how I like to enjoy the process of illustrating! And I love the final surprise when I see the art finished! ![]() ![]() I've been drawing since I was a little girl, all my life, many hours a day - so I guess that's the reason why I draw very spontaneously and directly from the heart. With the big dream of making children happy all over the world with my colourful art! |
