Meet the Sunshine Smile Publications Contributors

Chantel Napier
is the creator and editor of Sunshine Smile Publications. She has written several picture book stories and her first Young Adult novel, North of Nowhere, was selected as a finalist for Undiscovered Voices 2012. Set in the heart of the Canadian wilderness, it captures the rugged beauty of the rural north she grew up in.
Chantel holds a BEd from the University of Alberta and has enjoyed teaching at a UK primary school in the beautiful English countryside for the past eight years. The highlight of her work has been helping children learn to read and fall in love with stories from an early age. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and now lives in Alberta with her husband and two young children. You can follow her on Twitter.

Angela Muss is a children’s book illustrator and writer. She was born in Barcelona, Spain and considers her childhood experiences to be a major inspiration for her art. Growing up in a creative family, she spent many hours drawing and imagining characters, while enjoying experiences rich in art and culture. High admiration for her artistic mother and grandmother, and having a successful publicist as a father, helped her to become the talented illustrator she is today.
Prior to specialising in children’s illustration, Angela studied graphic design and photography, worked as a professional fashion photographer and developed a successful fashion illustration portfolio. But a love for children inspired her to pursue a career in the wonderful world of children’s books. Angela’s Illustrations are colourful, fun and sweet and are characterised by the delicacy and refinement of collage and textures. When working Angela enjoys listening to music accompanied by chocolates and a cup of tea! She now lives in Paris.
Her clients include: Penguin Group, Dorling Kindersley, Child’s Play, Tango Books, Marks and Spencer, Autumn Publishing, Little Tiger Press, Softplay and American Greetings, among others. To find out more about Angela, please visit her website and follow her on Twitter.

Luisa Plaja
writes fiction about teenagers and relationships. She has a passion for books in all their forms, and she edits the teen site Chicklish as well as contributing to the multi-author blog Girls Heart Books. Luisa grew up bilingual, has a degree in Linguistics and a background in dictionary editing, television subtitling and linguistic software development. Born in Glasgow and brought up in Sicily and London, Luisa Plaja now lives in Devon. Her latest novel, Kiss Date Love Hate, is published by Random House. To find out more about Luisa, please visit her website and follow her on Twitter.

Mark Chambers is an award winning illustrator and author and has been scribbling professionally since 2003 after graduating from Lincoln University with a BA in Illustration. He is represented by Bright Group International in the UK and has had a number of projects published around the world.
Clients he has worked with include Little Tiger Press, Templar, Simon & Schuster, Egmont, Scholastic and Usborne. He is also the illustrator for London Zoo’s Children’s Zoo called ‘Animal Adventure’ and the McDoogle’s Monster Farm series. Mark lives in Lincoln and works from his studio at a Creative Industries building which he shares with a Lobster called ‘Larry’! Nick Bromley
has always liked writing, albeit in a haphazard and
somewhat aimless fashion. Then three years ago a friend suggested he write something for children and take it along to a critique group run by the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. So he did - a rhyming picture book manuscript. And it went down pretty well. Yes, it was wildly overlong, a bit rough round the edges, and quite a few people said there’s little appetite among publishers for rhyming texts, but he was encouraged enough by the feedback to keep going.
So since then, Nick has been busy channelling his inner child into writing more picture books, and his first one, ‘Open Very Carefully’, will be published in October by Nosy Crow. It doesn't rhyme and it’s the shortest one he’s written (so far) so he’s learned something at least. But every now and then he revisits that first manuscript to see if he can turn it into something special.
Nick grew up in Yorkshire but now lives near Oxford with his wife and three children. Even though he’s worked in digital publishing for several years, he still much prefers a real book.
